Bahir Dar University has become the first preferred university in Ethiopia.

In 2023, Bahir Dar University has been selected by the students of Ethiopia as the first choice among the public universities and able to realize its vision in a short time.

By 2022, Bahirdar University, which is striving to become one of the leading research universities in Africa and the preferred university in Ethiopia, has achieved its vision by becoming the first preferred university.

In last year , Bahirdar University was the second choice next to Addis Ababa University, and know , it becomes the first preferred university and able to confirm its position as the best university at the national level.

It has been working for the past 60 years focusing on quality education under the motto '' wisdom at the source of of Blue Nile'' and we are celebrating our 60th Anniversary.

Our university has 15 academic programs, 9 campuses, and several distance and continuing education coordination centers that we have opened in foreign countries, including Sudan and Somali Hargeisa, with a total of more than 434 training areas.

Dear our university community and our partners in Ethiopia, we are very proud to be the first choice of the new university entrants. In the future, we will continue to strengthen our ties with our partners in order to maintain our excellence in research and community service, as well as in teaching and learning.
